
The Jordan Customs Department announced that customs officers at Queen Alia International Airport (QAIA), in coordination with security agencies, intercepted an attempt to smuggle 204 antiquities out of the country with a traveler of Arab nationality.
In a statement, the department detailed that customs officers at the passenger customs center became suspicious of the traveler, leading to a thorough search that uncovered the concealed artifacts.
Experts from the Department of Antiquities were brought in to assess the items, confirming their authenticity. A formal report was filed, and the artifacts will be handed over to the Department of Antiquities as per regulations.
The Jordan Customs Department reaffirmed its commitment to working alongside security and regulatory agencies at all border crossings to combat smuggling in all its forms and uphold economic and social security.
