Finding Houthi targets more challenging than expected, say US officials
Two United States officials, cited by the New York Times, have revealed that the recent US-UK strikes against houthis have only damaged about 20 to 30 percent of the Houthi’s offensive capabilities, and that “finding Houthi targets is proving to be more challenging than anticipated.”
Officials added that the difficulty stems from the fact that American and other Western intelligence agencies did not dedicate significant time or resources in recent years “collecting data on the location of Houthi air defenses, command hubs, munitions depots and storage and production facilities for drones and missiles.”
The Houthis still retain about “three-quarters” of their ability to fire missiles and drones at ships navigating in the Red Sea, despite the strikes destroying 90 percent of the targets struck.
