Iran’s Khamenei makes first comments following Assad’s deposition
Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei issued his first statement today following the fall of the Bashar Al-Assad regime on Sunday.
Khamenei said the weakening of the anti-Israel “resistance” after the ouster of Bashar al-Assad in Syria would not diminish Tehran’s power.
Some, “unaware of the meaning of resistance, imagine that when the resistance becomes weak, Islamic Iran will also become weak… Iran is strong and powerful and will become even more powerful,” he added.
Khamenei accused the United States of seeking to establish a foothold in the region.
Addressing the occupation of Syrian territories by the “Israeli” military, he expressed confidence that “the patriotic Syrian youth will undoubtedly liberate these lands.”
