Crane collapses during restoration work of Aqaba Church; several injuries reported
A crane loaded with iron collapsed on Saturday night during maintenance work at the Aqaba Church, resulting in several injuries – per Roya’s correspondent.
The injured were transported to Prince Hashem Hospital, and their condition is moderate.
Authorities said they are continuing their investigation into the incident.
The crane fell during maintenance and restoration work at the world’s oldest church in Aqaba, causing damage to the project being carried out by the Department of Antiquities and the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority.
Eyewitnesses told Roya that the accident resulted in at least five minor injuries, which were taken to Prince Hashem Military Hospital in Aqaba, and that the authorities have removed the crane.
