Human body part found in Balqa’, authorities issue statement

A human body part was found in the area of Salhoub in the governorate of Balqa’.

Upon its discovery, the Public Security Directorate (PSD) said that an investigation team from the Criminal Investigation Department and the Forensic Laboratory was formed and have concluded their investigation.

Authorities identified the victim, determined the perpetrator’s identity and apprehended; and was referred to the public prosecutor of the Grand Criminal Court – according to a statement issued today by PSD.

PSD’s spokesperson said that the human body part was found in an uninhabited area in Salhoub, Balqa’ on Monday, July 15.

“Through laboratory and technical examinations of the collected samples, the forensic lab successfully identified the victim to whom the body part belonged.”

The investigation narrowed down the perpetrator to one of the victim’s friends. After he was arrested, the suspect confessed during interrogation that he stabbed the victim at his home due to personal disputes.

He then later dismembered the body, disposing of one part in Salhoub and other parts in different locations.

More body parts were found inside the perpetrator’s home and other locations, and the search is currently ongoing for the remaining parts – the statement added.

The culprit has been detained in a correctional and rehabilitation center for 15 days on charges of premeditated murder.
