Israeli Occupation settlers discard furniture from Sub Laban family home
Two weeks after the Sub Laban family was forcibly evicted from their 70-year-old home in Aqabat al-Khaldia neighborhood in the Old City of Jerusalem, Israeli Occupation settlers threw out their furniture into the street.
The house owner Noura Sub Laban, along with a number of supportive activists, stood outside the home as the furniture was being discarded. They were later forcibly removed from the area by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) and settlers.
The IOF arrested Rafat Sub Laban as they were clearing out the area near the house.
On July 11, Israeli Occupation settlers seized the house after breaking into it under the protection of the IOF.
Several years ago, settlers seized other parts of the building leaving the Sub Laban family surrounded by settlers.
The family initially rented the house in 1953 from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and was granted protected lease rights. However, after the occupation of Jerusalem, it was placed under the management of the Israeli Occupation’s “Custodian of Absentee Properties”, claiming it belongs to people from the Israeli Occupation.
