Traffic advisory issued for Amman drivers

The Central Traffic Department disclosed the cause of the slow traffic inside Al-Malqa Tunnel towards Al-Nahda Intersection in Amman.

The Traffic Department mentioned that the slow traffic is due to a water tanker breakdown inside Al-Malqa Tunnel.

Earlier, a Traffic Department representative stated that the department’s patrols continued their work in the field to enforce traffic laws and ensure the safety of road users, especially in addressing serious violations.

The most significant violations in the past two days included 20 reckless driving offenses, 55 driving against the flow of traffic offenses, and 185 red light violations. Additionally, a number of cargo vehicles lacking basic safety standards, such as proper tires and adherence to load limits, were detained.

The representative added that the department dealt with traffic accidents over the past two days that resulted in the death of four people.

He noted that the use of mobile phones, lane changing, and failure to take necessary precautions are among the most prominent violations causing serious accidents.

Meanwhile, an officer from the external patrol operations indicated that the violation of not properly securing cargo led to the fall of part of a truck’s load (iron rods) onto the main road on Route 100 after the Development Passage Station towards Amman.

The vehicle’s driver was found with a category three private license, which does not permit him to drive such a vehicle. Necessary actions were taken to clear the obstacles from the road, secure the load correctly, and the driver was detained and subjected to legal action.

Traffic department representatives urged drivers to inspect their vehicles technically before driving, especially in the high temperatures, and to maintain traffic safety standards to prevent serious accidents.
