20 killed in US strikes against Iran-linked militias near Syria
The United States conducted airstrikes against several Iranian-backed groups near the Syrian-Iraqi border on Saturday.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that 20 members of Iranian groups were killed and injured in the nine airstrikes – an initial toll so far.
The airstrikes targeted military headquarters and a weapons shipment in the city of Al-Bukamal and its surroundings near the Syrian-Iraqi border – per the Observatory.
Explosions were heard Sunday which were caused by the targeting a site near the Marmaar oil well in the desert of Al-Bukamal in the eastern countryside of Deir ez-Zor – by an “unidentified drone.”
The Observatory added that the targets included a camp for Iran-backed militias in addition to a number of heavy machinery used for tunnel digging.
