LIVE UPDATES: Minister of Energy reveals findings of Risha Gas Field reserves study
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Saleh Al-Kharabsheh, and the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Government Communication, Zaid Nawaiseh, will hold a press conference to announce the findings of the preliminary estimates of natural gas reserves in the Risha Gas Field.
- Kharabsheh: We have revived the national oil and gas exploration program.
- Kharabsheh: The gas study revealed optimistic quantities in the Risha Gas Field, but they must be viewed comprehensively.
- Kharabsheh: The natural gas reserves are estimated at an average of 11.99 trillion cubic feet, with a recovery factor of 4.67 trillion cubic feet.
- Kharabsheh: Gas exploitation requires an intensive drilling program, and unless a well is drilled and production begins, it cannot be confirmed that gas will be obtained.
- Kharabsheh: Significant investments are needed in drilling, transportation networks, and processing plants.
- Kharabsheh: Investments in gas extraction and exploitation require an estimated JD 2 billion.
- Kharabsheh: We are currently exploiting between 16 to 17 million cubic feet of the daily production of 45 million cubic feet from the Risha Gas Field.
- Kharabsheh: We will implement a project to build a gas pipeline from the Risha Gas Field to the Khanasiri area, 320km long, which will require time and investments.
- Kharabsheh: The gas transportation pipeline from Risha to Khanasiri will take three to four years to implement.
- Kharabsheh: The quantities of gas available are evaluated along with their economic feasibility to assess the expected contribution to the economy.
