Severe weather warning issued, caution advised

The Jordan Meteorological Department has issued a warning for the risk of sudden flash floods in valleys and low-lying areas due to heavy rainfall, also cautioning against the dangers of thunderstorms and hail.

The department advised drivers to exercise extreme caution on rain-slicked roads and be mindful of reduced visibility caused by dust, especially in desert areas.

The Public Security Directorate (PSD) has urged citizens to stay alert during the anticipated weather instability over the next two days, emphasizing the importance of safe practices by following these guidelines:

The public is advised to avoid riverbanks and areas prone to flooding, especially in areas with expected heavy rainfall. The Directorate also warned against attempting to cross roads on foot or by vehicle in case of high water levels.

Jordan remains in a period of unstable weather, with partly to mostly cloudy skies and sporadic showers expected across the country.

Some areas may experience brief, heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and hail in the morning. Rain chances are expected to diminish by the afternoon as conditions gradually stabilize.

Winds will be moderate from the southeast, occasionally gusty and causing dust in desert regions.
