Norway to recognize Palestine on May 28, “Israel” recalls envoy in response
Norway will recognise Palestine as a state as of May 28, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store said Wednesday at a press conference, despite warnings from the Israeli Occupation.
In response, “Israel” has decided to recall its envoys to Norway and Ireland for “urgent consultations”.
“Today, I am sending a sharp message to Ireland and Norway: Israel will not go over this in silence. I have just ordered the return of the Israeli ambassadors from Dublin and Oslo to Israel for further consultations in Jerusalem,” Foreign Minister Israel Katz said in a statement.
Other European countries are expected to make similar moves on Wednesday: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez was expected to announce the date for Madrid’s formal recognition of a Palestinian state and the Irish government has called a press conference today to announce its decision, according to local media.
