Renewing your electronic passport: What you need to know
The Civil Status and Passports Department (CSPD) launched comprehensive electronic renewal services, accessible via the Sanad application or their official website.
Accessing electronic passport renewal services:
The CSPD outlined specific criteria for accessing their electronic renewal services:
- Active account requirement: Applicants must possess an active account to initiate the renewal process electronically.
- National ID and fingerprint activation: For individuals over 16 years old, a national ID card with an activated fingerprint on the smart card is mandatory.
- Parental authorization: Parents (either the father or mother) can electronically apply for passport renewals for their minor children, provided that the marital relationship exists.
- If the applicant is not the head of the family, beneficiaries are added to the list of beneficiaries for the applicant at the office clerk, and personal attendance is required.
- Divorced/widowed women must bring a temporary custody order issued for the minor from the Sharia Court.
- The passport must be expired, have less than 180 days remaining, or be full of pages.
Documentation requirements:
- A recent personal photo
- Smart national ID card
- Green Bridge Statistics Cards (if applicable)
- Deferred military service book (for males aged 18-40)
- Approval letter for military personnel and spouses
- Identification of the applicant (if applying at an office or embassy)
- Selection of beneficiaries from the designated list
- Filling out mandatory fields
- Uploading a personal photo
- Uploading the required attachments
- Selection of the old passport delivery method, either:
- Selecting an office from the department’s offices for passport delivery with completing payment and receipt.
- Choosing one of the delivery companies from the list of companies for payment and delivery through them.
- Delivery at the embassy (for those outside the country).
- Delivery to the acceptance officer in the application window at the offices.
Procedure for application and delivery:
Upon submission of the application, applicants receive instant notifications via text message and email, guiding them through subsequent steps. This includes:
- Payment and delivery options:
- Electronic payment via eFAWATEERCOM (for those in Jordan)
- Embassy payment (for applicants outside Jordan)
- Cash payment at designated department offices
- Receipt method:
- Embassy pickup (for applicants outside Jordan)
- Office pickup (for applicants in Jordan, either the applicant or designated beneficiary)
- Delivery via approved courier services
- Delivery process: Delivery personnel from accredited courier services collect fingerprints during delivery to ensure secure passport handover.
Important considerations:
- Additional Services: Multiple services can be bundled and processed in one shipment through designated courier services, simplifying logistics and reducing costs.
- Fees:
- JD20 for members of the Jordanian Armed Forces (JAF), security agencies, and civil defense participating in peacekeeping forces.
- JD25 for those under sixteen.
- JD20 for a passport full of pages and valid.
- JD50 for those over 16 years old by a day and the passport expires or remains less than 180 days.
- JD100 for a passport not expired or remaining more than 180 days before its expiration.
- JD100 for those outside the country or its equivalent in the embassy or consulate currency.
- JD0.25 electronic payment fee (eFAWATEERCOM).
- JD2.5 delivery fee via Jordan Post for each delivery or receipt operation.
