“Ear Bandaged” Trump receives hero’s welcome at Republican convention
Former US President Donald Trump was greeted with a hero’s welcome at the Republican Party convention in Milwaukee.
The audience applauded for an extended period as Trump entered the hall, wearing a bandage on his ear just two days after surviving an assassination attempt.
Inside the hall adorned in blue and red, Trump raised his fist in a gesture of resilience. This came two days after the assassination attempt, surrounded by applause from delegates who selected him as the official candidate for the upcoming presidential election on November 5.
As Trump stood in the packed hall, his supporters chanted “Fight! Fight!”—the words he had spoken while raising his fist, with blood streaming down his face, after the shooting on Saturday.
Trump announced that Senator James David Vance, 39, from Ohio, would be his vice-presidential pick if he wins the presidency. He made this announcement via his “Truth Social” platform, praising Vance’s military and political expertise.
Vance, a former military officer and author, has consistently advocated for key issues such as combating immigration and supporting economic protectionism in Congress.
Trump will officially accept the party’s nomination during a Thursday evening event, marking the climax of the general convention, with thousands of balloons set to be released.
