France emphasizes need for ceasefire in Gaza, delivering humanitarian aid

The French Foreign Ministry has emphasized the urgent need to reach a ceasefire agreement in Gaza, describing the humanitarian situation in the region as catastrophic.

France stressed the importance of ensuring the protection of civilians in Gaza and the widespread delivery of aid to the people of the region as part of any ceasefire agreement.

French President Emmanuel Macron reiterated the necessity of a ceasefire in Gaza, expressing opposition to the planned “Israeli” attack on the border city of Rafah – which currently stands as the last place of refuge for Palestinians in Gaza.

This came during a call with US President Joe Biden early Saturday, during which Biden and Macron emphasized the need to reach an agreement on prisoners to allow for the cessation of hostilities and de-escalation, according to the French presidency.
