Voters ‘spoke loud and clear’: Kamala Harris celebrates congressional wins, calls for bold action
- Former Vice President Kamala Harris praised Democratic candidates and grassroots volunteers
- Harris declared that voters rejected the “corruption, incompetence, and callousness” of Donald Trump’s administration
Former US Vice President Kamala Harris issued a post-election statement on Wednesday celebrating sweeping Democratic gains in the 2026 midterms, calling on newly elected lawmakers to be “ruthless” in using their newfound majorities.
“On Election Day, the American people spoke loud and clear: they are done with the corruption, incompetence, and callousness coming from the White House and the capitulation of Republican leaders,” Harris wrote. “As I traveled the country to campaign for Democrats up and down the ballot, I witnessed the resolve of the people to turn pain into purpose, and anger into action.”
Harris, who spent weeks on the campaign trail stumping for battleground House and Senate candidates as well as state-level contenders, extended congratulations to the party’s candidates and field volunteers who organized voter turnout drives nationwide.
However, Harris said that reclaiming legislative power was only the first step, directing the party to adopt an uncompromising approach once sworn in.
“Now, the work begins to actually deliver results,” Harris added. “The American people have elected Democrats across the country in federal, state, and local races who must be ruthless in using every lever of power to deliver economic relief for working families and hold this administration accountable for their deep-seated corruption. The people demand nothing less.”
Democrats will assume control of key committee gavels and subpoena powers in January.
