The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates welcomed the resumption of diplomatic relations between the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

The official spokesperson for the ministry, Sinan Al-Majali, stressed the importance of this agreement in strengthening cooperation between Arab countries in a way that serves common Arab interests.

Earlier Monday, the foreign ministries of Qatar and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced on Monday that the two countries have reached an agreement to resume diplomatic relations after six years of cessation.

In accordance with the Al-Ula Declaration and their mutual desire to strengthen bilateral ties, Qatar and the UAE will reopen their embassies and consulates.

The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Qatari embassy in Abu Dhabi and its consulate in Dubai will resume operations, while the UAE embassy in Doha will also reopen, effective from today, Monday, June 19, 2023.

Both countries view this step as a demonstration of their leaders’ will and a means to enhance joint Arab cooperation, fulfilling the aspirations of their respective peoples.
