The Minister of Interior, Tawfiq Halalmeh, on Wednesday instructed administrative and local governors to activate Defense Order No. 20, which bans gatherings, and obligates the use of preventive measures and equipment for public safety.
The minister stressed that the toughest legal and administrative measures will be taken against those who flout the defense order, stressing that individuals who held election rallies yesterday and engaged in festive firing, will be tracked down and apprehended.
Halalmeh said this measure came after an increase in the number of infections from the COVID-19, the failure of some citizens to abide by defense orders, which caused negative consequences for their health and safety.
The minister also instructed the administrative governors to prioritize this issue and to cooperate and coordinate with the security apparatuses within the proper jurisdiction.
