AFAQ NEWS

High temperatures are forecast for Sunday as the Kingdom remain under the impact of a hot air mass, with hot conditions prevailing in the highlands and plains and scorching weather in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily update.

The JMD warned of the danger of being directly under sunlight for extended periods, and cautioned against leaving kids in closed vehicles as the hot air mass will push temperatures up to 5-6 degrees above the annual average for this time of the year.

Monday will be the peak of the heat wave, as mercury levels forecast to rise further with scattered high clouds and northwesterly winds, picking up at times.

The impact of the hot air mass will start subsiding on Tuesday, with temperatures expected to drop but remain above annual average, bringing relatively hot weather in the highlands and plains and extremely hot weather in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba.

Temperatures expected for today in Amman will range between a high of 38 degrees Celsius and a low of 26, while it will range between 22-34 degrees in the northern cities and 27-18 degrees in the southern parts. The weather will be hotter in the port city of Aqaba with highs jumping to 44 degrees Celsius, sliding to 30 at night, the JMD said further.
