US-backed proposal must make Iran nuclear bomb impossible: Axios

- Axios quotes a US official saying any acceptable proposal must make it impossible for Iran to obtain a nuclear bomb.
- The Trump administration keeps military options open while signaling limited flexibility on uranium enrichment.
The Trump administration has set a firm condition for any diplomatic proposal with Iran, insisting it must guarantee the impossibility of Tehran obtaining a nuclear weapon, according to a US official cited by Axios.
The official said Washington is prepared to consider a proposal allowing Iran to enrich uranium at a symbolic level, but only if it includes binding mechanisms that permanently block any path to a nuclear bomb.
Military option still on table
Separately, a senior adviser to President Donald Trump told Axios that the president has not yet decided whether to launch a military strike against Iran.
The adviser said Trump is keeping all options open and could make a decision “at any moment,” depending on Iran’s response and broader regional developments.
Pressure on Tehran
A US official quoted in the report said Iran must submit “an offer we cannot refuse” if it wants to prevent a potential attack, underscoring Washington’s strategy of combining diplomatic openness with sustained pressure.
Uncertain path ahead
With no final decision taken on military action and talks still fluid, US officials signal that the coming period will be critical. The trajectory now hinges on whether Iran presents a proposal that meets Washington’s strict conditions or whether tensions escalate further.
