‘Israeli’ naval forces have seized control of the vast majority of the humanitarian aid fleet heading toward the blockaded Gaza Strip.
According to reports published by ‘Israeli’ website i24, citing an official security source, the navy has intercepted and taken over 95% of the vessels making up the international convoy.
The scale of the maritime operation has resulted in the boarding and capture of more than 40 individual ships within the flotilla.
Mass detentions
The systematic takeover of the fleet has been accompanied by a wave of mass arrests conducted by the boarding teams.
The security source confirmed that ‘Israeli’ forces have officially arrested and detained more than 300 participants and activists who were traveling aboard the seized ships.
Vessels left in open waters
Despite the high percentage of captured ships, the military intervention is still actively unfolding.
The security source clarified that ‘Israeli’ forces have not yet established complete control over all the vessels tied to the humanitarian initiative.
As a result of the ongoing naval sweep, the remaining un-boarded ships belonging to the fleet have been left stranded out in the open sea.
