Police on Monday arrested a suspect who attempted to kidnap a girl in the Ramtha district, northern Jordan, a few days ago.
The attempt was caught on camera and went viral on social media.
A special investigation team comprises the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) personnel, the Ramtha Police and Family Protection cadres has ended the investigations into the attempted kidnapping of a girl by an unknown person in the northern district a few days ago, Public Security Directorate (PSD) spokesperson said in a statement on Monday.
Following the investigation and information gathering and tracking, the team was able to identify the vehicle that appeared in the video, although its rear number plates and driver weren’t clear, the spokesperson added.
The suspect, a twenty-year-old, was arrested and admitted that while he was driving the vehicle alone a few days ago, he saw the girl and tried to kidnap her, but she ran away and then he fled the place, the spokesperson explained.
He noted that investigations are still underway with the suspect in preparation for referring him to the judiciary.
