Palestinian officials laud the King’s stance on Israel’s annexation intentions

AFAQ NEWS – Secretary General of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) Executive Committee, Saeb Erekat, and a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement, Hussein Al-Sheikh, welcomed the position of His Majesty King Abdullah II on Israel’s intentions to annex parts of the West Bank.
On Twitter, Erekat said: “The annexation means one thing: the impossibility of achieving peace between the Palestinians and the Israelis,” adding, “Likewise, the lack of prospect to achieve peace between the Arab countries and Israel, and whoever doubts this should read well the statements of His Majesty King Abdullah II.”
In turn, Al-Sheikh said: “The position of His Majesty King Abdullah II on Israel’s intention to annex parts of the West Bank is a true expression of Jordan’s firm commitment to Palestinian rights and an embodiment of the original Arab position.”
The Palestinian officials’ statements came after an interview with His Majesty King Abdullah II with the German magazine “Der Spiegel”, on Friday, during which His Majesty said the two-state solution is the only way to make the Middle Eat peace parties move forward, affirming Jordan is examining all options if Israel annexes more lands in the West Bank, which will, if implemented, lead to a major clash with the Kingdom.
In their welcoming response, the Palestinian Fatah and Hamas movements valued the position of His Majesty, and thanked Jordan for its supportive stances to the Palestinian issue at all levels and in various fields.
