Tourism minister briefs Venezuelan counterpart on anti-Covid-19 measures

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Majd Shweikeh, briefed Venezuelan Minister of Tourism and Foreign Trade Felix Plasencia, on Jordan’s experience in dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic in the tourism sector.
Held via teleconferencing, Shweikeh reviewed the government’s measures to support the tourism sector and protect rights of its workers and facilities, through banking facilities, tax exemptions, social security programs, and public safety standards, aimed set to limit the spread of the virus.
During the meeting, which came at the request of the Venezuelan side to get acquainted with Jordan’s experience, Shweikeh presented the ministry’s measures to resume domestic tourism activities, through the activation of the second season of the “Janna Orduna-Our Jordan is a Paradise” program.
This bid also included procedures to receiving film and medical tourism, which received the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC)’s “Safe Travels” stamp, and plans to rehabilitate tourist and archeological sites and prepare the infrastructure, according to Shweikeh.
For his part, Plasencia reviewed the measures taken by the Venezuelan government to confront the pandemic, and the steps to support the tourism sector and safeguard its workers, expressing his desire to benefit from Jordan’s experience to enrich his country’s efforts to reduce the pandemic-induced damage on the tourism sector.
