Yousef Al-Shawarbeh, the Mayor of Amman, revealed that the Municipality is actively engaged in implementing a “smart traffic management project” aimed at regulating drivers’ conduct and ensuring public safety.
Speaking at the “A Year on Modernization” forum’s second day on Saturday, Shawarbeh emphasized that the initiative revolves around digital surveillance of the entire city.
He highlighted that violations will be monitored to enforce responsible driving behavior, in alignment with the new traffic regulations. Any breaches of the law will incur significant financial penalties.
Scheduled for completion in October, the project is regarded as a transformative endeavor for the Jordanian state. Shawarbeh elucidated that the comprehensive network of cameras will capture various violations, encompassing actions such as not using seat belts, using mobile devices while driving, placing children in the front seats, littering, and other related offenses.
This endeavor is expected to contribute significantly to enhancing road safety and fostering a culture of responsible driving in the capital.
