The Taliban have been extending their control over more areas abutting Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, according to the TOLOnews.
The Kabul-based news channel reported Saturday that after the fall of two of the country’s largest cities, Kabul has become “surrounded.”
The Taliban fighters are reported to have been positioned 50km away from Kabul, prompting many governments to evacuate their subjects.
Some 3,000 U.S. soldiers have been deployed around the Kabul airport to secure the evacuation.
Germany, Britain, Denmark and Spain Friday announced they would evacuate their diplomatic mission personnel in the country.
The Pentagon has earlier announced the U.S. forces would be ready by Sunday to evacuate more than 1,000 people every day.
