Ukraine fired over 400 drones towards Moscow ahead of NATO summit

Ukraine launched more than 430 drones toward Moscow overnight, according to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, ahead of the NATO summit in Ankara where Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is attending as a guest.

Sobyanin said on social media that most of the drones were intercepted by air defenses far from the capital, while 36 were destroyed as they approached Moscow.

Earlier on Tuesday, acting Belgorod Governor Alexander Shufayev reported that one person was killed in the Russian region following repeated Ukrainian missile strikes that caused a fire at an infrastructure site.

The reported attacks came a day after a major Russian bombardment of Ukraine killed at least 28 people, including 26 in Kyiv and the surrounding region, according to Ukrainian authorities.

The strikes coincided with the NATO summit in Ankara, where European allies are expected to reaffirm their support for Zelenskyy and continue military aid commitments to Kyiv.

Ukraine has recently intensified attacks on Russian territory and occupied Ukrainian regions, particularly targeting energy facilities in an effort to disrupt funding for Moscow’s war effort.
