Tourist boat destroyed in Red Sea fire in Egyptian marina

  • Tourist boat completely destroyed by fire at Hurghada marina; no injuries reported.
  • Fire spread to an adjacent boat but was quickly contained.
  • Civil defense took about one hour to extinguish flames; wooden hull fueled fire.

A tourist boat was completely destroyed by fire while docked in the Red Sea in front of the Marine Sports Club, south of Hurghada in Egypt, authorities reported. Flames engulfed the vessel before civil defense teams could bring the blaze under control.

No human injuries or fatalities were reported, though thick black smoke and towering flames caused panic among tourists and marina workers. The fire also spread to a small adjacent boat, but firefighters managed to contain it before further damage occurred.

The emergency operations room received an immediate alert, prompting a rapid deployment of civil defense forces supported by specialized fire trucks. Firefighters took approximately one hour to extinguish the flames due to the wooden hull, which accelerated the fire’s spread.

Authorities have launched a comprehensive investigation to determine the cause of the fire. Preliminary indications suggest a possible technical malfunction in the engine room or an electrical short circuit, compounded by the local weather conditions.
