Man attacked in Germany for wearing ‘Israeli’ flag pin

A 65-year-old man was seriously injured in an attack near Würzburg, Germany, after being assaulted for wearing a small ‘Israeli’ flag pin, authorities and a pro-‘Israel’ group reported according to Hebrew media.

The incident occurred overnight between Sunday and Monday, in the market town of Höchberg in Bavaria.

The man, a member of the German-‘Israeli’ Society (Deutsche-Israelische Gesellschaft), was standing at a traffic light when a 20-year-old man noticed the pin on his clothing.

The suspect initiated a conversation about the ‘Israeli’-Palestinian conflict and the war on Gaza before the encounter turned violent.

According to police and prosecutors, the attacker punched the man in the face, knocked him to the ground, and repeatedly kicked him in the head and upper body.

When the man tried to escape, the attacker chased him and continued the beating until nearby officers intervened and arrested the suspect.

The man suffered a fractured vertebra and other serious injuries and was treated in intensive care.

Prosecutors are investigating the case as attempted murder with indications of anti-‘Israeli’ violence.

The suspect, who had been detained the previous evening for allegedly harassing shoppers at a local market, remains in pretrial custody.

Volker Beck, president of the German-‘Israeli’ Society, condemned the assault.

“Enough is enough. Anyone who demonizes Israel through accusations of genocide and apartheid creates the climate for attacks like this,” he claimed.

The assault comes against a backdrop of sharply increased attacks in Germany since the start of the ‘Israeli’ assault on Gaza.
