Latest US strikes will lead to ‘retreat and regret’: Iranian MP

  • Senior Iranian lawmaker Ibrahim Azizi accused the US of violating diplomatic commitments by striking Iran during negotiations.
  • His remarks came after the IRGC said it targeted US military positions in response to American strikes on southern Iran.

A senior Iranian lawmaker has accused the United States of undermining diplomacy after American strikes on Iran during ongoing negotiations.

Ibrahim Azizi, head of Iran’s parliamentary National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, said the US “once again attacked Iran in the middle of negotiations,” arguing that Washington had shown no commitment to diplomatic principles or ceasefire understandings.

In a post on X, Azizi said the “failed US president” had demonstrated a lack of commitment to negotiations and warned that what he described as a “reckless violation” of the ceasefire would “lead to retreat and regret” for the United States. He added that “the blame game does not work anymore.”

His comments came hours after Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said its naval forces had targeted US military positions across the region in retaliation for American strikes on southern Iran.

The exchange marks a further escalation in tensions between Tehran and Washington, with both sides accusing each other of violating understandings reached during diplomatic efforts.
