Kuwait closes airspace, diverts flights amid regional escalation

Kuwait’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation announced the temporary closure of the country’s airspace to all arriving and departing flights, citing the current security situation.

In a statement, the authority said all flights currently operating have been diverted to alternative airports in the region to ensure the safety of passengers and flight crews.

The move comes after the Kuwaiti military said its air defense systems were engaging hostile aerial targets, while Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had targeted military facilities in Kuwait.

Kuwaiti authorities described the developments as a response to ongoing regional security threats and said the measures would remain in place until further notice.
