As Jordan begins to feel the impact of an approaching weather system, the Public Security Directorate issued a series of strict warnings on Wednesday, urging citizens to exercise maximum caution amid forecasts of thunderstorms and hail.
In a statement, the directorate said weather models indicate rainfall will begin in the northern and central regions, as well as parts of the southwest, gradually extending toward the eastern areas. Evening and nighttime hours may witness heavy downpours, raising risks in known hotspots.
Security advisories focused particularly on residents and travelers in low-lying areas and valleys, especially the Jordan Valley and the Dead Sea region. Authorities warned against approaching flood channels or attempting to cross water accumulations, whether by vehicle or on foot, to avoid incidents of drifting or falling.
On road safety, officials urged motorists to drive slowly on slippery roads and remain alert to potential drops in horizontal visibility caused by dust in desert areas or dense fog expected over mountain highlands and parts of the plains.
The directorate also highlighted household risks associated with cold weather, stressing the safe use of heating devices. It warned against refueling heaters while they are lit and emphasized the need for continuous home ventilation and switching off heaters before sleeping. Public Security confirmed its readiness to respond to emergencies through the unified hotline (911).
