- Immediate assistance includes temporary housing, heating, food, and rental support for severely damaged homes.
Jordan’s Ministry of Social Development has activated its humanitarian and relief operations in response to the ongoing severe weather, prioritizing vulnerable families whose homes are at risk, the ministry said Monday.
Emergency rooms and field teams
Ali Abdul Hafiz, Assistant Secretary-General of the ministry, told Roya TV’s “Akhbar Al-Sabia” that a central emergency room oversees 41 sub-rooms across the ministry’s directorates throughout Jordan.
41 mobile teams are operating around the clock to monitor citizens’ conditions and respond to complaints, immediately reaching affected families to provide direct assistance.
Shelters and temporary housing
Abdul Hafiz said, in coordination with charitable organizations, the ministry has prepared evacuation centers and temporary shelters equipped with bedding, blankets, heating, and food supplies.
In cases of severe home damage that prevents families from returning, the ministry covers the cost of alternative housing for one to three months until their living situation is restored.
Comprehensive aid packages
The ministry has distributed relief materials including mattresses, blankets, tents (in some cases), heaters, and food. Fuel coupons are also provided to ensure families can meet basic needs, especially those unable to access daily necessities due to weather conditions.
