‘Israeli’ activists stage protest against Jaffa police over neglect of Arabs

Members of the Jewish-Arab organization “Standing Together” demonstrated outside the Jaffa police station in ‘Israel’ on Wednesday, using symbolic pools of red liquid and blindfolds to highlight what they described as official neglect fueling high levels of violence in Arab society.

The group reported 147 murders in Arab communities since the start of 2026. Activists poured fake blood on the pavement and had some participants stand or sit blindfolded in it to represent both the bloodshed and authorities “turning a blind eye” to the crisis.

They specifically referenced the recent killing of teenager Ahmed J’abri from Jaffa.

In a statement, Standing Together called for an end to the “abandonment” of Arabs, urging the ‘Israeli’ police to combat organized crime, collect illegal weapons, and provide equal protection to “all Israelis”.

The group also launched a petition demanding the dismissal of the Jaffa station commander for failing to safeguard residents.

Violence in Arab towns and neighborhoods in ‘Israel’ has been a persistent concern. 2025 saw a record 252 homicides in the community, according to monitoring groups, with 2026 continuing at an elevated pace.

Clearance rates for these cases remain low—around 12-15%—compared to roughly two-thirds in Jewish communities, per data from watchdog organizations and parliamentary sources.
