‘Israel’ committed 108 attacks on Palestinian journalists in July, syndicate says

The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate documented 108 attacks against Palestinian journalists and media workers by ‘Israeli’ occupation forces in July, according to its Liberties Committee, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.
The violations included arrests, beatings and detentions, as well as preventing journalists from covering events. The syndicate also documented settler attacks, raids on journalists’ homes and media institutions, and the seizure or destruction of journalistic equipment.
Detention and obstruction of journalistic work accounted for the largest share, with 58 cases recorded during the month.
The syndicate also documented 12 cases involving exposure to sound and gas bombs, 11 attacks by settlers and six cases in which journalists were beaten.
Four journalists sustained bloody injuries while covering events in the Gaza Strip, including wounds caused by shrapnel, according to the syndicate.
The Palestinian Journalists’ Syndicate called for greater protection for journalists and media workers and urged that those responsible for attacks be held accountable.
The figures add to longstanding concerns over the safety of Palestinian journalists covering events in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly amid the ongoing Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.
