Iran says it targeted US military base in Kuwait with missiles

Iran’s military said early Tuesday that it had targeted a US military base in Kuwait with missiles, as Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian declared that the country was engaged in a “full-scale war” with the United States.

According to Iran’s official news agency IRNA, the Iranian army’s public relations office said ground forces launched surface-to-surface missiles at US HIMARS rocket systems stationed at Camp Arifjan in Kuwait.

IRNA said the High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) is a mobile missile platform capable of rapidly striking ground targets. It claimed that targeting the system would weaken the enemy’s offensive and defensive capabilities and reduce its missile capacity.

Camp Arifjan, located south of Kuwait City, hosts US military personnel from the Army, Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

There was no immediate confirmation from US or Kuwaiti authorities regarding the Iranian claim.
