Ex-Trump aide says US should cut support for ‘Israel’ to ensure deal holds

  • Joe Kent welcomes the ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran.
  • He calls for cutting US military and intelligence assistance to ‘Israel’.
  • He also suggests repositioning US forces away from Gulf bases within Iran’s range.

Former acting head of the US National Counterterrorism Center, Joe Kent, has welcomed the ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as an opportunity to stabilize regional tensions.

In a post on X, Kent said the deal’s chances of holding would improve if Washington reduced military and intelligence assistance to ‘Israel’, arguing that such support had previously undermined diplomatic progress.

He said that “every opportunity” had been taken to weaken the agreement and warned that similar efforts could continue unless US policy changes.

Kent also suggested the United States should quietly withdraw troops from Gulf bases within range of Iranian forces, saying this would reduce the risk of escalation.

He added that limiting exposure and removing factors that could trigger renewed conflict would help preserve the ceasefire and prevent a return to wider war in the region.
