Canada’s PM calls US-Iran MoU ‘game-changer’

Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said he “absolutely” supports the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran, describing it as a “well-structured” and “positive” agreement.

Speaking to CNN on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, Carney said Canada was “very pleased” with the deal, calling it a “game-changer” for regional stability.

He said the agreement lays the foundation to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, supports the gradual reintegration of regional economies, and could help advance a political solution in Lebanon.

Carney added that the deal offers Iran a “big financial incentive” if it fulfills its commitments in the coming months, including reopening the Strait of Hormuz and negotiating the transfer of its enriched uranium.
