According to details spotlighted by French investigative journalist Romain Molina, drawing from extensive financial records initially uncovered by the Argentine newspaper La Nación, the probe centers on the distribution of the federation’s tournament-related revenues.
Key Allegations Under Investigation
- Shell Company Diverted Funds: Out of approximately Euro 300 million (USD 300M+) in total revenue generated from sponsorships, broadcasting rights, and tournament income, more than Euro 42 million (and potentially up to USD 260 million through wider operations) was allegedly routed into Florida-based shell companies with no apparent connection to football operations.
- The TourProdEnter Contract: The reports allege that just nine days before the 2022 World Cup Final in Qatar, a contract was signed assigning 30 percent of the AFA’s World Cup revenue to a company called TourProdEnter LLC. FIFA reportedly transferred the funds directly to this entity in accordance with the official directives outlined in the agreement.
- Luxury Expenditures: Investigators are examining whether the diverted money was used by high-ranking officials for luxury real estate in Miami, private jets, yachts, and external investments entirely unrelated to Argentine football.
