Labor Minister announces details of Tawkeed project

 Minister of Labor and Minister of State for Investment Affairs, Maen Qatamin, said that the “Tawkeed” project was implemented to ensure that sectors and economic activities keep operating, and avoid resorting to new lockdowns in light of the continuing repercussions of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

“The Tawkeed project came in coordination between the Ministry of Labor and other government entities according to a well-studied plan and in partnership with the private sector,” Qatamin said in a statement.

The project, Qatamin added, aims to ensure the commitment of private businesses to apply work procedures protocols and preventive measures, issued by the Ministry of Labor and relevant stakeholders, to halt the spread of the coronavirus, indicating that these protocols take into account the peculiarity of each sector.

He noted that the “Tawkeed” project also provides training opportunities in partnership with the private sector to train and qualify those wishing to work as health protection observers.

Qatamin stated that the health protection observer is in charge of informing the facility’s management in the private sector when spotting any violations of safety and health protection measures and informing the supervisor about them according to clear and specific mechanisms.

He pointed out that the health prevention observer should also verify that workers and service recipients in the facility are not infected with Covid-19, via an advanced application.

The minister pointed out that the applicant for the position of a health protection observer must register and then be accepted and pass the training program that was prepared for this purpose, and that he must have a certificate of practicing the profession of “occupational safety and health technician, or hold a diploma as a minimum, and possess knows how to use smart applications.”

He explained that the “Tawkeed” project provides many job opportunities as a health protection observer and a health protection supervisor for those who are accepted and who pass the training program and fulfill the stated conditions, adding that it is a condition for the applicant for training opportunities as a health protection observer that he is not less than 20 years old and no more than 40 years old. and that he does not have another job or receive a pension.
