Cold weather conditions are expected to prevail on Sunday in most parts of the Kingdom, with clouds at various altitudes, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) said in its daily brief.
In the afternoon, the country will be affected by a depression centred over Turkey, bringing rain in the northern highlands stretching to cover other areas. Rainfall is expected to be heavier, accompanied by thunder storms and hail, mainly in the northern and central regions, causing flash floods in valleys and lowlands, the JMD added.
Winds will be southwesterly brisk with strong gusts, exceeding 50 kilometres per hour at times and blowing dust in the Badia regions.
The weather department also warned of poor visibility due to dust and fog in the Badia and highlands, slippery roads in the areas experiencing rain as well as flood formation.
A further dip in temperatures is forecast on Monday, so it will be chilly, cloudy with scattered showers in much of the Kingdom.
Heavy downpours is expected in the early morning hours over the central and northern parts of the country, making floods in valleys and low-lying areas.
A mix of rain and snow is also forecast over the southern mountain peaks of Al-Sharah, the weather department predicted, noting that winds will be southwesterly moderate to active, stirring dust in the Badia.
Toward night, rainfall is expected to decrease with a possibility of patchy fog.
As we head into Tuesday, very cold and partly cloudy conditions will continue to persist during day time, while later in the evening, the Kingdom will be affected again by another depression coming from Syria, bringing heavy rain with lightning, thunder and hail at times that may trigger flash floods, the JMD further said.
Winds will be westerly active with strong gusts reaching 50-60 km/hour and blowing dust.
Mercury in Amman today ranges between 12 Celsius degrees, dropping to 6C during night hours, while the city of Aqaba will see a fair 22C, sliding into 13C at night.
