Minister of Social Development, Ayman Mufleh on Tuesday met with representative of the UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, in Amman, Ziad Al-Sheikh, for a discussion on enhancing cooperation in the field of empowering women and supporting their steadfastness.
The two parties also discussed the project of integrating the gender into the ministry’s policies and strategies and building its capabilities in this field.
Mufleh stressed the importance of cooperating with programs to protect women and girls from violence and providing integrated services in protecting women from violence.
He also underlined the importance of social interventions, especially for marginalized and vulnerable groups, according to an integrative approach that takes into account the circumstances and repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic and its social impacts.
For his part, Al-Sheikh lauded the strategic partnership between the ministry and the UN Women, referring to the Oasis project for the empowerment of women and girls that is being implemented in the Ministry’s local community development centers, as well as in the field of supporting gender issues.
