Institutional quarantine procedures in force for arrivals at airports will also apply to drivers coming at land border crossings as part of measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus, Land Transport Regulatory Authority Director general Salah Lozi said

He told Petra in an interview that the new quarantine procedures will be enforced based on the classification of the country from which a driver comes from, whether green, yellow or red for COVID-19

Lozi explained that the new quarantine period for drivers coming from red and yellow countries will be 7 days at most, and that they need to present a PCR test that they had in 72 hours from the date of arrival. Another test will be conducted for them on the day of arrival at the border crossing, he said

If a driver tests negative, he will be institutionally quarantined for a period of 7 days, and will be retested on the seventh day and that if the test result is negative, he will be released from quarantine, he explained

Lozi called on drivers coming from red countries to adhere to home quarantine regulations and wear an electronic bracelet, while those coming from yellow countries will have to stay isolated at home but without a bracelet

He added that drivers crossing from green countries should present a PCR test conducted in 72 hours before arriving at the land borders, and then they will take another test upon arrival and wait for the result. If they test negative, their passports are stamped and can enter the kingdom, he said
