Irbid: contacts of four COVID-19 patients test negative

Afaq News
The test results of first, second and third-degree contacts of four COVID-19 patients have come back negative, a health official told Petra on Tuesday.

Riad Shayab, Director of the Irbid Health Affairs Department, said that the epidemiological investigation teams collected around 1,950 samples in the past 24 hours, noting that the results so far are negative.

On the Jaber border crossing staff, Shayab stated that the first test of 150 samples was negative, but after a second test two people were confirmed to be infected with the coronavirus. The two patients were transferred to a quarantine area in the Dead Sea.

The third test will be conducted next Tuesday, he added, noting that if it comes back negative, the workers will be allowed to quarantine themselves at home after placing wristbands to track their movements during quarantine.

Shayab described the epidemiological situation in the Irbid governorate as “relatively stable” and “under control” because the source of confirmed infections over the past 10 days is known. The epidemiological investigation teams are monitoring the hotspots across the governorate including the Ramtha district, he pointed out.
