Jordan’s trade deficit down 8.1pct in first 4 months of 2020

The value of Jordan’s national exports to countries of the Greater Arab Free Trade Area (GAFTA)
during the first four months of 2020 stood at JD561 million, a drop by 8.3 percent compared to JD612 million at the same period of last year.

A Department of Statistics (DoS) report on the first third of 2020 showed Monday that the value of imports from the GAFTA countries also slumped by 21.7 percent, reaching JD1.054 billion, compared to JD1.346 billion during the same comparison period.

The trade balance deficit, which is the difference between the value of imports and total exports, stood at JD560 million, decreasing during the first four months of this year by 8.1 percent, compared to the same period of 2019.
