Iraq .. Sulaymaniyah to reopen its mosques from today

Sulaymaniyah governorate, in the Kurdistan region of northern Iraq, decided to reopen mosques to worshipers, starting from Friday

The province said in a statement yesterday, Thursday, that: “It was decided to open mosques throughout the province of Sulaymaniyah, starting from Friday”

She added: “11 health teams, under the supervision of the Ministry of Awqaf, will sterilize the mosques before opening them.”

Also, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq decided to reopen all mosques from next Monday, stressing the need to adhere to health instructions and guidelines.

The Association of Religious Scholars in the Kurdistan Region announced the beginning of last March the suspension of Friday and Friday prayers in mosques, after recording cases and injuries in Koruna.

The Office of the Shiite and Sunni Waqf in Iraq decided to close all mosques and Husayniyahs and to suspend all religious activities in the country to contain the virus.

Earlier, the Iraqi Ministry of Health announced that 63 cases of the virus had been recorded, taking the total to two thousand and 543, including 102 deaths, one thousand and 626 cases of recovery
