True cost of war on Gaza to be measured in lives of children: UNICEF

The Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Catherine Russell, has stated that the real cost of the war launched by Israeli Occupation since Oct. 7 on the Gaza Strip will be measured in the lives of children.

Russell said, “More than 420 children in Gaza are killed or injured every day. This is a number that should deeply shake each of us.”

She added that the World Health Organization (WHO) in Gaza reported 34 attacks on healthcare facilities, including 21 hospitals, and 12 out of 35 hospitals in Gaza are no longer operational.

Additionally, at least 221 schools and over 177,000 residential units have been damaged or destroyed.

She also mentioned that clean water is running out rapidly, with 55 percent of the relevant infrastructure in need of repairs or rehabilitation.
