Jordan, Tunisia ink deal to further business relations

The Kingdom’s exports of jewelry grew astronomically by 91 percent, while chemical products picked up by 18.6 percent during the first half of the current year, compared to the same period last year.

Foreign trade data issued Tuesday by the Department of Statistics showed that the Kingdom’s exports of jewelry in the January-June period of 2023 amounted to JD466 million, compared to JD244 million for the same period last year, while the value of exports of chemical products amounted to JD242 million, compared to JD204 million for the same period last year.

The value of national exports of other materials during the first half of this year amounted to JD1.603 billion, compared to JD1.414 billion for the same period last year.

According to statistical data, national exports decreased in the first half of this year for clothing and related accessories by 11.4 percent, raw potash by 27.3 percent, and phosphate by 14 percent.

The value of the Kingdom’s exports of clothing and accessories in the January-June period of 2023 amounted to about JD637 million, compared to JD719 million for the same period last year, followed by phosphate exports at JD314 million compared to JD365 million, and potash exports about JD368 million, compared to JD506 million for the same period last year.

According to the report, the total value of national exports increased during the first half of this year by 2.3 percent, reaching JD4.198 billion, compared to JD4.104 billion during the same period last year.
