The Court of Cassation has upheld a verdict passed by the Grand Criminal Court, concerning a man in his twenties found guilty of engaging in sexual acts with a minor. He was sentenced to nine years and four months.
The man was convicted of the felony of engaging in sexual intercourse with a female aged between fifteen and eighteen. This offense was in direct violation of Article 294/1 Penalties, alongside Article 301/1/b of the same legal code.
Additionally, the accused has been held liable for the crime of indecent assault, as delineated by Article 298/1 of the Penal Code, and the offense of sexual intercourse with a female aged between fifteen and eighteen, encompassing taking her virginity.
The accused, the victim and her sister were apprehended after the sisters’ absence was reported. Subsequently, the father of the victim uncovered the occurrence of sexual assault and made arrangements for them to get married under the jurisdiction of the Sharia Court.

The victim had initiated contact with the accused back in April 2022 and agreed to meet in Amman to celebrate his birthday.
After the gathering, during which alcohol was consumed, they returned to her aunt’s house and engaged in “repeated sexual activities.”
After the father reported the sisters missing and they were found, the Family Protection Department informed the father that his daughter was sexually assaulted, resulting in the submission of a formal complaint.
In a subsequent interrogation with the Public Prosecutor, the accused admitted to engaging in sexual activity with the victim, asserting that it was consensual. Notably, an official marriage contract had been established between the victim and the accused, as per the decision.
