Wednesday, Jordan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi announced that he will be visiting Syria and Turkey Wednesday
His planned visit to Syria will be the first in 12 years
This comes as an expression of Jordan’s solidarity with the two countries following the deadly earthquakes that struck last week
Safadi earlier tweeted, “Our thoughts & prayers are with the victims of the tragic earthquakes in #Syria #Turkey. I spoke with my counterparts Mevlut Cavusoglu & Faissal Muqdad offering the Kingdom’s condolences. At the directives of His Majesty, Jordan will be sending emergency aid to to both countries
According to the ministry’s statement, Safadi plans of discussing the humanitarian situation and the relief needs with both countries, as the Kingdom continues to send aid to both, following royal directives
Since the deadly quake struck, Jordan has sent several relief planes, land convoys, healthcare professionals and rescue teams to both Turkey and Syria
