Contrasting weather patterns unfold across Kingdom for remainder of week

The Kingdom is set to witness a range of weather conditions for the remainder of the week, according to meteorological forecasts.

In its update for Wednesday, the Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) predicted moderate temperatures in the mountainous areas and plains, while other regions will experience relatively hot conditions. Additionally, scattered high-level clouds are predicted, accompanied by moderate northwesterly winds, occasionally picking up.

On Thursday, the Kingdom will encounter the influence of a dry and relatively hot air mass advancing alongside a Khamasini depression. This meteorological event is anticipated to cause a notable rise in temperatures, surpassing the seasonal averages by approximately 3-4 degrees Celsius. Consequently, the weather will lean towards relatively hot to hot conditions, with clouds forming at various altitudes.

Later in the day, a gradual shift in weather conditions is expected, becoming increasingly dusty. Furthermore, during the late night hours, a possibility of light rain showers in select parts of the southwestern regions is forecast. Winds will be moderate, blowing from the southeast to the southwest, occasionally stirring dust storms, and affecting visibility.

As Friday approaches, weather conditions are anticipated to remain dusty, hot, and unstable. Clouds will continue to form at various altitudes, bringing scattered rain showers in different parts of the kingdom, accompanied by thunderstorms. Winds will blow from the southeast to the southwest, with strong gusts reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h.

The weekend will end with a slight reduction in temperatures on Saturday. The weather will display a moderate temperature in the mountainous areas and plains, while other regions can expect relatively hot to hot conditions.

Today’s peak temperatures will be between 30 and 28 degrees Celsius in Amman and various highlands throughout the Kingdom, with lows of 18 or even 16 degrees in the southern highlands at night. The Gulf city of Aqaba will have warmer weather, with highs of 38C and lows of 26C.
